Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Update

The Authority has begun updating the Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan (CBPP), which is slated for completion over the next year. The update will not only provide a basis for local jurisdictions to become eligible for Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) funds, it will also address the new provisions of Measure J (especially the Pedestrian, Bicycle and Trails Facilities program), MTC's new routine accommodation requirements and other changes since the CBPP's adoption in 2003.

The Authority has now released the Issues and Options Report, the first public review document in the update process. You can also download updated maps of existing and planned bicycle facilities that the jurisdictions have told us about. We hope local staff and the public will review these maps and correct any errors and make suggestions for other changes.

You can download the Issues and Options Report (PDF, 3.2 MB) here along with its appendices (PDF, 6.3 MB). There also updated maps for five areas of Contra Costa:

The report serves several purposes:

We have scheduled three workshops to allow the public to weigh in on the data collected and the changes proposed, as well as additional changes people think would improve the CBPP.

All three workshops will run from 7 to 9 p.m.

If you have comments on the Issues and Options report or suggestions on how best to resolve the issues identified in it — or even if you just want to get on the mailing list for later notices on the update to the CBPP — you can download and fill out the public comment sheet (Word, 84 KB). We look forward to hearing from you.
