Plan for Contra Costa's Future

Faster.
Cleaner.
Greener.
Faster. Cleaner. Greener.
Contra Costa is a county as unique and diverse as its residents. From cities to waterfronts, from farmland to historic landmarks, our communities stretch from the Richmond coastline to Discovery Bay, from Port Chicago to the San Ramon Valley, and from Mount Diablo to Crockett Hills. Whether you take a car, a bus, a train, a bike or your own two feet, efficient and safe transportation is important for everyone in our community!
The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) is putting together a plan for the next thirty-five years of transportation in our county, and we want to know what’s important to you! Please take our survey, join a telephone town hall, or share your thoughts at an upcoming community event or Authority Board Meeting.

CCTA has developed a draft 2020 Transportation Expenditure Plan (TEP) with every community member in mind. From Brentwood to Orinda, we’re reaching out to drivers, walkers, bikers and bus-takers to learn where the roads need fixing, where the bus routes should connect, where to modernize our roads and transit systems with new technology, and how to better serve the underserved.
This plan outlines a vision for improving the way we move through Contra Costa County and here’s a glimpse into the categories of investments CCTA is considering:
- Improve State Route 242, Highway 4 and eBART Corridor
- Modernize I-680, Highway 24, and BART Corridor
- Enhance I-80, I-580, and BART Corridor
- Make Countywide Improvements that Enhance our Communities
Transportation Funding Timeline
It is the CCTA’s job to use the county’s transportation funds in the most efficient way we can, using local dollars on local projects. We support projects that reduce traffic congestion, improve our roads, provide reliable and convenient public transit, and improve our environment. That is why we created the 2020 Transportation Expenditure Plan (TEP).

Imagine the Possibilities
What if every trip you took was faster, cleaner, and greener? CCTA is developing a plan to help make this happen.
Contra Costa County’s population is expanding, the number of people older than 65 is increasing, and the demand on our roads and highways is intensifying. CCTA has developed a 35-year Transportation Expenditure Plan (TEP) that is specifically designed to maintain and support our infrastructure in a way that is smart and sustainable, and to accommodate the diverse and growing needs of our county. Just a few of key goals of this plan are to:
- Smooth traffic flow
- Improve transit options
- Provide cleaner BART stations and train cars
- Reduce emissions and improve air quality
- Increase bicycle lanes and walking paths
We’d love to hear what’s important to you!
Other Opportunities to Share Your Thoughts
The TEP would not exist without community involvement. Please visit us at any of the events below to take our survey and tell us about transportation needs in your neighborhood.
